  • 1 cup corn flour
  • 1¼ cup warm water or broth
  • 1 tsp salt

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine corn flour and salt. Gradually add warm water or broth, mixing until a smooth dough forms.
  2. Let the dough rest for 5 minutes.
  3. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and shape each into a round patty, about 3 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch thick.
  4. Heat a lightly greased skillet over medium heat. Cook arepas for 3-5 minutes per side, until a light crust forms.
  5. Transfer the seared arepas to a baking dish.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes, or until they sound hollow when tapped.
