Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef tenderloin
  • ½ onion
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • ½ tbsp sugar
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp ground coriander
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • 9 bamboo skewers (optional)

Steps

  1. Cut beef tenderloin into 1-inch cubes. If using bamboo skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a blender, combine chopped onion, garlic, lemon juice, sugar, 0.25 cup soy sauce, salt, ground coriander, and 0.25 cup oil. Blend until smooth.
  3. Pour the marinade over the beef cubes, ensuring all pieces are coated. Marinate for 2-3 hours in the refrigerator (do not marinate overnight).
  4. Thread the marinated beef onto skewers, about 3-4 pieces per skewer.
  5. Prepare a grilling oil by whisking together 2 tablespoons of oil and 0.5 tablespoon of soy sauce in a shallow dish.
  6. Before cooking, roll each skewer in the grilling oil to prevent drying.
  7. Grill, pan-fry, or barbecue the satee skewers over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes per side, or until cooked to your desired doneness.
