Beef Satee Skewers
Tender beef cubes marinated in a savory, tangy, and slightly sweet sauce, then grilled or pan-fried to perfection on skewers.
Ingredients
- 1 lb beef tenderloin
- ½ onion
- 1 clove garlic
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- ½ tbsp sugar
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp ground coriander
- ¼ cup vegetable oil
- 9 bamboo skewers (optional)
Steps
- Cut beef tenderloin into 1-inch cubes. If using bamboo skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes.
- In a blender, combine chopped onion, garlic, lemon juice, sugar, 0.25 cup soy sauce, salt, ground coriander, and 0.25 cup oil. Blend until smooth.
- Pour the marinade over the beef cubes, ensuring all pieces are coated. Marinate for 2-3 hours in the refrigerator (do not marinate overnight).
- Thread the marinated beef onto skewers, about 3-4 pieces per skewer.
- Prepare a grilling oil by whisking together 2 tablespoons of oil and 0.5 tablespoon of soy sauce in a shallow dish.
- Before cooking, roll each skewer in the grilling oil to prevent drying.
- Grill, pan-fry, or barbecue the satee skewers over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes per side, or until cooked to your desired doneness.
