Bulgogi
Enjoy the classic Korean dish of thinly sliced, marinated beef grilled to perfection, offering a savory and slightly sweet flavor.
Ingredients
- 1½ lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- ½ cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 4 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp ginger, grated
- ½ Asian pear, grated (optional)
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 3 green onions, sliced
- ½ yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp cooking oil
- 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional)
- 4 cup cooked white rice (optional)
Steps
- In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, grated Asian pear (if using), and black pepper to create the marinade.
- Add the thinly sliced beef to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours for best flavor.
- Heat cooking oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced yellow onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the marinated beef to the skillet in a single layer, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through.
- Stir in the sliced green onions and cook for another minute.
- Serve the bulgogi immediately, garnished with sesame seeds if desired, alongside cooked white rice.
