Korean BBQ Short Ribs (Galbi)
Tender beef short ribs marinated in a savory-sweet soy garlic sauce and grilled to perfection, a classic Korean BBQ experience.
Ingredients
- 2½ lb flanken-cut beef short ribs
- ½ cup soy sauce
- ¼ cup water
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- 6 clove garlic
- 1 inch ginger
- ½ Asian pear
- 3 green onions
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds (optional)
Steps
- Rinse short ribs under cold water and pat dry. In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, water, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and grated Asian pear to create the marinade.
- Add the short ribs to the marinade, ensuring they are fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, turning occasionally.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Remove the short ribs from the marinade, shaking off any excess.
- Grill the short ribs for 2-4 minutes per side, depending on thickness and desired doneness, until nicely caramelized and cooked through.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds, if using. Serve immediately with rice and banchan (side dishes).
