Margherita Pizza

Ingredients
- 1 lb pizza dough
- 15 oz canned crushed tomatoes
- 8 oz fresh mozzarella
- ½ cup fresh basil leaves
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
- ½ tsp dried oregano (optional)
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
Steps
- Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C) with a pizza stone or baking steel if available.
- Stretch or roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness.
- Spread the crushed tomatoes evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border for the crust. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and oregano.
- Tear the fresh mozzarella into small pieces and distribute them over the tomato sauce.
- Transfer the pizza to the preheated oven and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
- Remove from oven, drizzle with olive oil, and scatter fresh basil leaves over the top.
- Slice and serve immediately.
