Ingredients

  • 1 lb pizza dough
  • 15 oz canned crushed tomatoes
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella
  • ½ cup fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • ½ tsp dried oregano (optional)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C) with a pizza stone or baking steel if available.
  2. Stretch or roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness.
  3. Spread the crushed tomatoes evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border for the crust. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and oregano.
  4. Tear the fresh mozzarella into small pieces and distribute them over the tomato sauce.
  5. Transfer the pizza to the preheated oven and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
  6. Remove from oven, drizzle with olive oil, and scatter fresh basil leaves over the top.
  7. Slice and serve immediately.
