Ingredients

  • 1½ lb ground turkey
  • ½ onion
  • 2 clove garlic
  • ½ cup bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cup beef broth
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp allspice
  • ⅛ tsp nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley (optional)

Steps

  1. Finely mince half an onion and garlic. In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, minced onion, minced garlic, bread crumbs, egg, milk, 0.5 tsp salt, 0.25 tsp black pepper, allspice, and nutmeg. Mix gently until just combined.
  2. Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the meatballs in batches until golden on all sides, then remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, to create a roux.
  4. Gradually whisk in beef broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low and stir in heavy cream, remaining salt, and pepper.
  5. Return the browned meatballs to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired, over egg noodles or mashed potatoes.
