Beef Kofta
Flavorful spiced ground beef skewers or patties, often served with a refreshing yogurt sauce and pita.
Ingredients
- 1½ lb ground beef
- ½ yellow onion
- 3 clove garlic
- ¼ cup fresh parsley
- 2 tbsp fresh mint (optional)
- 1½ tsp ground cumin
- 1½ tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 4 pita bread (optional)
- ½ cup plain yogurt (optional)
- ½ cucumber (optional)
Steps
- Finely chop the onion, mince the garlic, and chop the parsley and mint (if using).
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, mint (if using), cumin, coriander, paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
- Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions. Shape each portion around a skewer or form into oval-shaped patties.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Lightly brush the kofta with olive oil.
- Grill the kofta for 3-5 minutes per side, or until cooked through and nicely browned.
- While kofta cooks, prepare a simple yogurt sauce by mixing plain yogurt with finely diced cucumber and a pinch of salt (optional).
- Serve the hot kofta immediately, with pita bread and yogurt sauce on the side if desired.
