Chicken Lo Mein
A classic Chinese-American dish featuring tender chicken and stir-fried noodles with crisp vegetables in a savory sauce.
Ingredients
- 1¼ lb boneless, skinless chicken breast
- 16 oz lo mein noodles
- ½ cup soy sauce
- ¼ cup oyster sauce
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp ginger, grated
- 2 clove garlic, minced
- 1 cup carrots, julienned
- 1 cup celery, sliced
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- ½ cup green onions, sliced (optional)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Steps
- Cook lo mein noodles according to package directions, then drain and rinse with cold water to prevent sticking.
- Slice chicken into thin strips. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and cornstarch to create the sauce.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add chicken and stir-fry until cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove chicken and set aside.
- Add grated ginger, minced garlic, julienned carrots, sliced celery, and sliced bell pepper to the same skillet. Stir-fry for 3-5 minutes until vegetables are tender-crisp.
- Return cooked chicken to the skillet with the vegetables. Add the drained lo mein noodles.
- Pour the prepared sauce over the chicken, vegetables, and noodles. Toss everything together until well coated and heated through, about 2-3 minutes.
- Garnish with sliced green onions, if desired, and serve hot.
