Cuban Sandwich
A classic Cuban sandwich features layers of roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard on crusty Cuban bread, pressed until golden and warm.
Ingredients
- 1 loaf Cuban bread
- 4 tbsp Yellow mustard
- ¾ lb Roasted pork (lechon asado)
- ½ lb Deli ham
- 8 slices Swiss cheese
- ½ cup Dill pickle slices
- 2 tbsp Unsalted butter
Steps
- Slice the Cuban bread horizontally and spread yellow mustard generously on both cut sides of each half.
- Layer the bottom half of each sandwich with roasted pork, then ham, Swiss cheese, and dill pickle slices.
- Place the top half of the bread over the fillings to complete the sandwiches.
- Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter.
- Place two sandwiches in the skillet, press down firmly with a spatula or another heavy pan, and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, until the bread is golden brown and crispy and the cheese is melted. Repeat with remaining butter and sandwiches.
- Remove from heat, slice each sandwich in half diagonally, and serve immediately.
