Turkey Picadillo
A savory and slightly sweet ground turkey dish with olives and raisins, perfect for a quick and flavorful meal.
Ingredients
- 1¼ lb ground turkey
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium yellow onion
- 3 clove garlic
- 1 medium red bell pepper
- 14½ oz diced tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- ½ cup green olives
- ¼ cup raisins
- 1 tsp cumin
- ½ tsp oregano
- ¾ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 1 lb potatoes (optional)
- 2 cup white rice (optional)
Steps
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground turkey and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Add chopped onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until vegetables soften, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato paste, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
- Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and cook for 10 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
- Stir in green olives and raisins. Cook for another 5 minutes, uncovered, until the sauce has slightly thickened.
- Serve hot, optionally over white rice or with cooked potatoes.
