Fettuccine Alfredo
A classic Italian pasta dish featuring silky fettuccine coated in a rich, creamy sauce made with butter, heavy cream, and Parmesan cheese.
Ingredients
- 1 lb fettuccine
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- ½ cup Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley (optional)
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
Steps
- Cook fettuccine according to package directions in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente. Drain, reserving 1/2 cup of pasta water.
- While pasta cooks, melt butter and heavy cream in a large skillet or pot over medium heat, stirring until butter is fully incorporated and cream gently bubbles.
- Whisk in grated Parmesan cheese, salt, and black pepper until the sauce is smooth and slightly thickened.
- Add the drained fettuccine to the sauce and toss gently to coat. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of reserved pasta water.
- Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
