Larb Gai
A refreshing and flavorful Thai salad featuring minced chicken, fresh herbs, and a zesty lime dressing.
Ingredients
- 1¼ lb ground chicken
- 2 shallots
- ½ cup mint leaves
- ½ cup cilantro
- 4 green onions
- ¼ cup lime juice
- 3 tbsp fish sauce
- 1 tsp chili flakes
- 2 tbsp toasted rice powder
- 1 head lettuce leaves (optional)
- 1 cucumber (optional)
- 2 cups sticky rice (optional)
Steps
- Finely mince the shallots, mint, cilantro, and green onions. Set aside.
- Cook the ground chicken in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it up with a spoon, until fully cooked through and no longer pink. Drain any excess fat.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked chicken, minced shallots, mint, cilantro, and green onions.
- Whisk together the lime juice, fish sauce, and chili flakes to create the dressing. Pour over the chicken mixture.
- Add the toasted rice powder to the chicken mixture and toss everything together until well combined.
- Serve the Larb Gai warm or at room temperature, traditionally with fresh lettuce leaves for wrapping and sliced cucumber. Sticky rice is a common accompaniment.
