Ingredients

  • 1¼ lb ground chicken
  • 2 shallots
  • ½ cup mint leaves
  • ½ cup cilantro
  • 4 green onions
  • ¼ cup lime juice
  • 3 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 tsp chili flakes
  • 2 tbsp toasted rice powder
  • 1 head lettuce leaves (optional)
  • 1 cucumber (optional)
  • 2 cups sticky rice (optional)

Steps

  1. Finely mince the shallots, mint, cilantro, and green onions. Set aside.
  2. Cook the ground chicken in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it up with a spoon, until fully cooked through and no longer pink. Drain any excess fat.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cooked chicken, minced shallots, mint, cilantro, and green onions.
  4. Whisk together the lime juice, fish sauce, and chili flakes to create the dressing. Pour over the chicken mixture.
  5. Add the toasted rice powder to the chicken mixture and toss everything together until well combined.
  6. Serve the Larb Gai warm or at room temperature, traditionally with fresh lettuce leaves for wrapping and sliced cucumber. Sticky rice is a common accompaniment.
