One-Skillet Lasagna
Enjoy all the comforting flavors of classic lasagna in a fraction of the time with this easy one-skillet version.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium yellow onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 28 oz crushed tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 cups beef broth
- 6 sheets lasagna noodles
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup Parmesan cheese (optional)
- ¼ cup fresh basil (optional)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
Steps
- Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it apart, then drain any excess fat and set aside.
- Add olive oil to the skillet, then sauté chopped onion until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
- Return the beef to the skillet. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, beef broth, oregano, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
- Break lasagna noodles into 2-3 inch pieces and stir them into the sauce. Ensure noodles are mostly submerged. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until noodles are tender and sauce has thickened.
- Stir in ricotta cheese in dollops, then sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the top. Cover and cook for 5 minutes, or until mozzarella is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil, if desired, before serving directly from the skillet.
