Slow Cooker Swedish Meatballs
Classic Swedish meatballs simmered in a creamy, savory sauce, perfect for a comforting family meal.
Ingredients
- 1½ lb ground beef
- ½ cup bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- ½ onion
- ¼ cup milk
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cup beef broth
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley (optional)
- 8 oz cooked egg noodles (optional)
Steps
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, finely minced onion, milk, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined, then form into 1-inch meatballs.
- In a small bowl, whisk together beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and flour until smooth. Pour this mixture into the slow cooker.
- Carefully add the meatballs to the slow cooker, ensuring they are mostly submerged in the sauce. Cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours, until meatballs are cooked through.
- Stir in the heavy cream during the last 30 minutes of cooking. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.
- Serve the Swedish meatballs hot over cooked egg noodles, if desired, and garnish with fresh parsley.
