⏱ 45 min🍽 Serves 4Italianpastamedium

Ingredients

  • 2 onion
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1⅛ lb lean ground beef
  • 3.2 oz mushrooms
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 14½ oz canned diced tomatoes
  • 1¼ cup hot beef broth
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ¾ lb spaghetti
  • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 0 salt
  • 0 black pepper

Steps

  1. Chop onions and mince garlic. Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat, then add onions and fry for 3-4 minutes until softened. Add garlic and ground beef, breaking it up, and cook until browned.
  2. Drain any excess fat from the beef. Add sliced mushrooms and dried oregano to the pan, cooking for another 2 minutes.
  3. Stir in the canned tomatoes, beef broth, tomato paste, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Bring the sauce to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. While the sauce simmers, cook spaghetti according to package directions in a large pot of boiling, salted water until al dente. Drain well.
  6. Combine the cooked spaghetti with the Bolognese sauce in the pan.
  7. Serve hot in bowls, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
