Beef & Broccoli Stir-Fry
A classic Chinese-American stir-fry featuring tender beef and crisp broccoli florets in a savory ginger-garlic sauce.
Ingredients
- 1½ lb flank steak
- 1½ lb broccoli florets
- ½ cup soy sauce
- ½ cup beef broth
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger
- 3 clove garlic
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 3 cup rice (optional)
Steps
- Slice beef against the grain into thin strips. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, beef broth, cornstarch, sesame oil, and brown sugar.
- Mince ginger and garlic. Add half of the ginger and garlic to the sauce mixture. Marinate beef in half of the remaining sauce for 15 minutes.
- Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add broccoli florets and stir-fry until tender-crisp, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- Add remaining 1 tablespoon vegetable oil to the skillet. Add marinated beef and stir-fry until browned and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes. Remove beef and set aside.
- Add remaining ginger and garlic to the skillet and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Pour the remaining sauce mixture into the skillet and bring to a simmer, stirring constantly until it thickens.
- Return beef and broccoli to the skillet, tossing to coat evenly with the sauce.
- Serve immediately, optionally over steamed rice.
