Beef Lo Mein
A classic Chinese stir-fry featuring tender beef, savory noodles, and crisp vegetables coated in a rich oyster sauce.
Ingredients
- 2 lb beef sirloin
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp white pepper
- 4 tsp sesame oil
- 2 egg
- 6 tbs cornstarch
- 10 tbs vegetable oil
- 1 lb lo mein noodles
- 2 cup onion
- 4 tsp minced garlic
- 4 tsp minced ginger
- 4 cup bean sprouts
- 4 cup mushrooms
- 4 cup water
- 4 tbs oyster sauce
- 4 tsp sugar
- 4 tsp soy sauce
Steps
- In a bowl, combine beef, salt, white pepper, 2 tsp sesame oil, eggs, cornstarch, and 4 tbs vegetable oil. Mix well and marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Boil lo mein noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and rinse with cold water to prevent sticking.
- Heat 4 tbs vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry until medium cooked. Remove beef and set aside.
- Add remaining 2 tbs vegetable oil to the wok. Add onions, minced garlic, and minced ginger. Stir-fry for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add bean sprouts, mushrooms, and water to the wok. Bring to a simmer.
- Stir in oyster sauce, 0.5 tsp white pepper, 2 tsp sesame oil, sugar, and soy sauce to create the sauce.
- Return the cooked beef and noodles to the wok. Toss everything together until well combined and heated through.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade Beef Lo Mein.
