Beef Lo Mein

A classic Chinese stir-fry featuring tender beef, savory noodles, and crisp vegetables coated in a rich oyster sauce.

Ingredients

  • 2 lb beef sirloin
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp white pepper
  • 4 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 egg
  • 6 tbs cornstarch
  • 10 tbs vegetable oil
  • 1 lb lo mein noodles
  • 2 cup onion
  • 4 tsp minced garlic
  • 4 tsp minced ginger
  • 4 cup bean sprouts
  • 4 cup mushrooms
  • 4 cup water
  • 4 tbs oyster sauce
  • 4 tsp sugar
  • 4 tsp soy sauce

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine beef, salt, white pepper, 2 tsp sesame oil, eggs, cornstarch, and 4 tbs vegetable oil. Mix well and marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Boil lo mein noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and rinse with cold water to prevent sticking.
  3. Heat 4 tbs vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry until medium cooked. Remove beef and set aside.
  4. Add remaining 2 tbs vegetable oil to the wok. Add onions, minced garlic, and minced ginger. Stir-fry for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Add bean sprouts, mushrooms, and water to the wok. Bring to a simmer.
  6. Stir in oyster sauce, 0.5 tsp white pepper, 2 tsp sesame oil, sugar, and soy sauce to create the sauce.
  7. Return the cooked beef and noodles to the wok. Toss everything together until well combined and heated through.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade Beef Lo Mein.
