Beef Taquitos
Crispy fried corn tortillas filled with seasoned beef, perfect for dipping in your favorite salsa or guacamole.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 12 corn tortillas
- ½ onion
- 2 clove garlic
- 1 tsp chili powder
- ½ tsp cumin
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 cup shredded lettuce (optional)
- ½ cup sour cream (optional)
- ½ cup salsa (optional)
- ½ cup guacamole (optional)
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Steps
- Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat, draining any excess fat. Add diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until softened.
- Stir in chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat.
- Warm tortillas in the microwave for 30 seconds or in a dry skillet to make them pliable.
- Place a spoonful of the beef mixture near one edge of a warm tortilla, then roll it up tightly. Secure with a toothpick if needed.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry taquitos in batches for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove taquitos from oil and place on a wire rack lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Remove toothpicks.
- Serve hot with optional toppings like shredded lettuce, sour cream, salsa, guacamole, or shredded cheese.
