Beef Teriyaki
Savor the classic flavors of tender beef and crisp vegetables coated in a sweet and savory teriyaki glaze, perfect for a satisfying weeknight meal.
Ingredients
- 1½ lb flank steak
- ½ cup soy sauce
- ¼ cup mirin
- ¼ cup sake
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 inch ginger
- 2 clove garlic
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 4 cup broccoli florets
- 2 carrot
- 2 cup white rice
- 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional)
- 2 green onions (optional)
Steps
- Thinly slice the flank steak against the grain. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, mirin, sake, brown sugar, grated ginger, and minced garlic to create the teriyaki sauce.
- In a small bowl, dissolve cornstarch in water to make a slurry. Set aside.
- Heat sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced beef and cook until browned, about 3-5 minutes. Remove beef from the skillet and set aside.
- Add broccoli florets and sliced carrots to the same skillet. Stir-fry for 5-7 minutes until vegetables are tender-crisp.
- Return the beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour the teriyaki sauce over the beef and vegetables and bring to a simmer.
- Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.
- Serve immediately over cooked white rice, garnished with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.
