California Burrito
A hearty and satisfying California burrito loaded with carne asada, crispy fries, cheese, and fresh pico de gallo.
Ingredients
- 1½ lb Carne Asada (skirt or flank steak)
- 4 Large flour tortillas
- 16 oz Frozen french fries
- 1½ cup Cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 cup Pico de gallo
- ½ cup Sour cream (optional)
- ½ cup Guacamole (optional)
- ¼ cup Cilantro, fresh, chopped (optional)
- 1 Lime (optional)
- 2 tbsp Vegetable oil
- 1 tsp Salt
- ½ tsp Black pepper
- 1 tsp Garlic powder
- ½ tsp Cumin
Steps
- Season carne asada generously with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and cumin. Let sit at room temperature for 15 minutes.
- Cook french fries according to package directions until golden and crispy. Set aside.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Sear carne asada for 3-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Remove from pan, rest for 5 minutes, then thinly slice against the grain.
- Warm tortillas briefly in a dry skillet or microwave to make them pliable.
- To assemble each burrito, lay a warm tortilla flat. Layer with a quarter of the carne asada, a handful of french fries, shredded cheese, and pico de gallo. Add sour cream, guacamole, and cilantro if using.
- Fold in the sides of the tortilla, then tightly roll from the bottom up to create a sealed burrito.
- Serve immediately, optionally with a squeeze of fresh lime juice.
