Chicken Parmesan Pasta Bake
A comforting and hearty casserole featuring tender chicken, pasta, and rich marinara sauce, all baked with a golden, cheesy topping.
Ingredients
- 1½ lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 12 oz penne pasta
- 24 oz marinara sauce
- 2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Steps
- Preheat oven to 3750F (1900C).
- Cut chicken breasts into 1-inch pieces. Toss chicken with 1 tablespoon olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Cook penne pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain well.
- Heat remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook until browned and mostly cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in marinara sauce and cooked pasta with the chicken. Mix well to combine.
- Sprinkle mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese evenly over the pasta mixture.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly and the sauce is heated through. If desired, broil for the last 2-3 minutes for a golden-brown crust.
- Garnish with fresh parsley, if using, and serve hot.
