Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 oz taco seasoning
  • ¼ cup water
  • 12 hard taco shells
  • 2 cups shredded lettuce (optional)
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • ½ cup sour cream (optional)
  • ½ cup salsa (optional)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

Steps

  1. In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess grease.
  2. Stir in taco seasoning and water. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the liquid has mostly evaporated and the beef is well coated.
  3. While the beef simmers, preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Place taco shells on a baking sheet and bake for 5-7 minutes, or until crisp.
  4. Dice tomatoes and shred lettuce and cheese, if using, for toppings.
  5. Fill each warm taco shell with a generous spoonful of the seasoned ground beef.
  6. Serve immediately with your desired toppings such as shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream, and salsa.
