Jamaican Fried Dumplings
Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, these classic Jamaican fried dumplings are a delightful accompaniment to any meal.
Ingredients
- 2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- ¾ cup milk
- 1½ cup vegetable oil
Steps
- In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Pour in the milk and stir until a dough forms. Lightly knead the dough until it comes together.
- Break off about 10 pieces of dough and roll them into small balls.
- Heat oil in a 10-inch skillet over medium heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully place dumplings into the hot oil and fry until browned on one side, about 2-3 minutes.
- Flip the dumplings and cook until the other side is also golden brown.
- Remove fried dumplings from the oil and place them on paper towels or a cooling rack to drain excess oil.
- Serve hot and enjoy as a side dish.
