Kotlety (Polish Patties)
Savory Polish ground beef patties, softened with milk-soaked bread and seasoned with onion, garlic, and marjoram, then fried to golden perfection.
Ingredients
- 1 bread roll
- ½ cup milk
- 1 onion
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 egg
- 1 clove garlic
- ¼ tsp marjoram
- ¾ cup breadcrumbs
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
Steps
- Soak the bread roll in milk until softened. Meanwhile, finely chop the onion and fry it in a tablespoon of oil over medium heat for 8 minutes until soft and golden.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, cooked onion, egg, minced garlic, marjoram, salt, and pepper.
- Squeeze excess milk from the softened bread roll and add it to the beef mixture. Mix everything thoroughly until well combined.
- Divide the meat mixture into 8 equal portions and shape them into patties.
- Place breadcrumbs in a shallow bowl and coat each patty evenly with breadcrumbs.
- Heat the remaining vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Fry the patties in batches for 6-7 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through.
- Serve hot with your favorite Polish sides.
