Nachos Supreme

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 10 oz tortilla chips
  • 2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 2 tbsp taco seasoning
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 Roma tomatoes
  • ½ red onion
  • 1 jalapeño (optional)
  • ½ cup black olives, sliced (optional)
  • ½ cup sour cream (optional)
  • ½ cup salsa (optional)
  • 1 avocado (optional)
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro (optional)

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
  2. Stir in taco seasoning and water with the ground beef. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, or until liquid has mostly evaporated.
  3. Spread half of the tortilla chips on a large oven-safe platter or baking sheet. Sprinkle with half of the cooked beef and half of the shredded cheeses.
  4. Add the remaining tortilla chips, then top with the rest of the beef and cheeses.
  5. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. While nachos bake, dice tomatoes and red onion. Slice jalapeño and avocado, if using.
  7. Remove nachos from oven and top with diced tomatoes, red onion, sliced jalapeños, and black olives (if using).
  8. Serve immediately with sour cream, salsa, guacamole (mashed avocado), and fresh cilantro, if desired.
