Ingredients

  • 1½ lb flank steak
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 clove garlic
  • 1 tbsp ginger
  • 2 large bell peppers
  • 1 large yellow onion
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 cup white rice (optional)

Steps

  1. Slice the flank steak against the grain into thin strips. In a bowl, toss the beef with 1 tablespoon soy sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil. Mince garlic and ginger, slice bell peppers and onion into strips.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together remaining soy sauce, beef broth, and brown sugar to create the sauce.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add beef and stir-fry until browned, about 2-3 minutes. Remove beef from skillet and set aside.
  4. Add remaining 1 tablespoon vegetable oil to the skillet. Add onions and bell peppers and stir-fry for 3-5 minutes until slightly tender-crisp. Add minced garlic and ginger and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour the prepared sauce over everything and stir to combine. Bring to a simmer and cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Serve immediately over steamed white rice, if desired.
