Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 3 clove garlic
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 3 carrots
  • 3 celery stalks
  • 6 green onions
  • 1 packet wonton wrappers
  • 4 cup frying oil
  • ¼ cup water

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground pork, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, finely chopped carrots, finely chopped celery, and chopped green onions. Mix well.
  2. Lay out wonton wrappers on a clean surface. Place about 1 heaping teaspoon of the pork filling in the center of each wrapper.
  3. Lightly brush two adjacent edges of the wonton wrapper with water, about 1/4 inch from the edge.
  4. Fold the wrapper diagonally to form a triangle, pressing firmly to seal the edges and remove any air pockets.
  5. Bring the two long outside points of the triangle together, overlapping them slightly, and pinch them to seal, creating the classic wonton shape.
  6. Heat frying oil in a deep pot or wok to 350-375F (175-190C).
  7. Carefully fry wontons in batches (4-5 at a time) for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Remove fried wontons with a slotted spoon and drain on a wire rack or paper towels. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
