Pork Wontons
Delicious fried pork and vegetable dumplings, perfect as an appetizer or a light meal.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground pork
- 3 clove garlic
- 1 tsp ginger
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 3 carrots
- 3 celery stalks
- 6 green onions
- 1 packet wonton wrappers
- 4 cup frying oil
- ¼ cup water
Steps
- In a large bowl, combine ground pork, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, finely chopped carrots, finely chopped celery, and chopped green onions. Mix well.
- Lay out wonton wrappers on a clean surface. Place about 1 heaping teaspoon of the pork filling in the center of each wrapper.
- Lightly brush two adjacent edges of the wonton wrapper with water, about 1/4 inch from the edge.
- Fold the wrapper diagonally to form a triangle, pressing firmly to seal the edges and remove any air pockets.
- Bring the two long outside points of the triangle together, overlapping them slightly, and pinch them to seal, creating the classic wonton shape.
- Heat frying oil in a deep pot or wok to 350-375F (175-190C).
- Carefully fry wontons in batches (4-5 at a time) for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove fried wontons with a slotted spoon and drain on a wire rack or paper towels. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
