Poutine
A classic Canadian comfort food featuring crispy fries, squeaky cheese curds, and rich beef gravy.
Ingredients
- 4 cup vegetable oil
- 15 oz beef gravy
- 2 lb potatoes
- 2 cup cheese curds
Steps
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy skillet to 365°F (185°C).
- Warm the beef gravy in a saucepan over low heat or in the microwave until hot.
- Carefully add the potatoes (cut into thin fries) to the hot oil and fry until light golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove the fries from the oil and drain excess oil on a paper towel-lined plate.
- Divide the hot fries among serving plates, then immediately sprinkle generously with cheese curds.
- Ladle the warm gravy over the fries and cheese curds and serve immediately.
