Sesame Beef
Tender strips of beef coated in a savory, sweet, and nutty sesame sauce, perfect over rice.
Ingredients
- 1½ lb flank steak
- ½ cup soy sauce
- ¼ cup honey
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger
- 3 clove garlic
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp water
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)
- 2 green onions (optional)
- 3 cup cooked white rice (optional)
Steps
- Slice the flank steak against the grain into thin strips.
- In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, grated ginger, and minced garlic to create the sauce.
- In a separate small bowl, dissolve cornstarch in water to make a slurry.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add beef strips and cook until browned on all sides, about 3-5 minutes. Remove beef from the skillet and set aside.
- Pour the prepared sauce into the hot skillet and bring to a simmer. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet, tossing to coat evenly with the thickened sauce.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions, if desired. Serve immediately over cooked white rice.
