Turkey Lasagna

A comforting and hearty lasagna made with lean ground turkey, rich tomato sauce, and layers of cheesy goodness.

Ingredients

  • 1¼ lb ground turkey
  • 9 sheets no-boil lasagna noodles
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 large egg
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Sauté diced onion for 5 minutes until softened. Add ground turkey and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain any excess fat. Stir in minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper; cook for 1 minute more. Pour in marinara sauce and simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, half of the Parmesan cheese, and 1 cup of mozzarella cheese. Mix well.
  4. Spread a thin layer of turkey sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Arrange 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, then top with another layer of turkey sauce.
  5. Repeat the noodle, ricotta, and sauce layers once more. Place the final 3 noodles on top, cover with the remaining turkey sauce, and sprinkle with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
  6. Cover the baking dish loosely with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  7. Let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired.
