Turkey Lasagna
A comforting and hearty lasagna made with lean ground turkey, rich tomato sauce, and layers of cheesy goodness.
Ingredients
- 1¼ lb ground turkey
- 9 sheets no-boil lasagna noodles
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
- ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1 large egg
- 24 oz marinara sauce
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Steps
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Sauté diced onion for 5 minutes until softened. Add ground turkey and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain any excess fat. Stir in minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper; cook for 1 minute more. Pour in marinara sauce and simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, half of the Parmesan cheese, and 1 cup of mozzarella cheese. Mix well.
- Spread a thin layer of turkey sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Arrange 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, then top with another layer of turkey sauce.
- Repeat the noodle, ricotta, and sauce layers once more. Place the final 3 noodles on top, cover with the remaining turkey sauce, and sprinkle with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
- Cover the baking dish loosely with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired.
