Ingredients

  • ½ lb ground pork
  • ½ lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 40 wonton wrappers
  • 6 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated
  • 2 clove garlic, minced
  • 4 scallions, sliced
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 egg white
  • ¼ tsp white pepper (optional)
  • 4 oz bok choy, chopped (optional)

Steps

  1. Finely chop the shrimp. In a bowl, combine ground pork, chopped shrimp, 2 sliced scallions, grated ginger, minced garlic, cornstarch, egg white, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, and 1 teaspoon sesame oil. Mix well.
  2. Place about 1 teaspoon of filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges with water and fold into desired wonton shape, pressing to seal.
  3. In a large pot, bring chicken broth to a simmer. Stir in the remaining 1 tablespoon soy sauce and 2 teaspoons sesame oil.
  4. Carefully add the wontons to the simmering broth. Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until wontons float and are cooked through. If using, add bok choy during the last 2 minutes of cooking.
  5. Ladle the wonton soup into bowls. Garnish with the remaining sliced scallions and a dash of white pepper, if desired. Serve hot.
