American Beef Goulash
A hearty and comforting American-style goulash featuring tender beef, elbow macaroni, and a rich tomato sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium yellow onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 14½ oz canned diced tomatoes
- 15 oz canned tomato sauce
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1½ cups elbow macaroni
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp dried Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley (optional)
Steps
- Heat vegetable oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add chopped onion to the pot and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in minced garlic, paprika, and Italian seasoning; cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
- Stir in the elbow macaroni. Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until pasta is tender, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Remove from heat and let stand for a few minutes. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.
- Serve hot, garnished with shredded cheddar cheese and fresh parsley, if desired.
