American Goulash

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 14½ oz diced tomatoes
  • 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 2 cup beef broth
  • 1 onion
  • 2 clove garlic
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • ½ cup cheddar cheese, shredded (optional)

Steps

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add ground beef to the pot and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Stir in minced garlic, salt, and pepper; cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce (if using). Bring to a simmer.
  5. Add elbow macaroni, stir well, and cover the pot. Reduce heat to low and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until macaroni is tender, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  6. Remove from heat and let stand for 5 minutes. If desired, stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy your hearty American Goulash.
