Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 28 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ cup cheddar cheese, shredded (optional)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Steps

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add chopped onion to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in minced garlic, paprika, and oregano, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Pour in crushed tomatoes, beef broth, water, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  4. Stir in the elbow macaroni. Cover the pot and reduce heat to low. Cook for 15-20 minutes, or until macaroni is tender, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  5. Remove from heat and let stand for a few minutes. If desired, stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with fresh chopped parsley if using.
