BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwiches
Tender, slow-cooked pork shoulder shredded and tossed in a smoky BBQ sauce, piled high on soft burger buns for a classic comfort meal.
Ingredients
- 2 lb pork shoulder
- 1 onion
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp chili powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
- ½ cup chicken broth
- 1½ cup BBQ sauce
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 cup coleslaw (optional)
Steps
- Slice the onion and place it at the bottom of a slow cooker. Place the pork shoulder on top of the onions.
- In a small bowl, combine garlic powder, paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Rub the spice mixture all over the pork.
- Pour apple cider vinegar and chicken broth into the slow cooker.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or on high for 3-4 hours, until the pork is very tender and easily shredded.
- Carefully remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Discard any excess fat.
- Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker, add the BBQ sauce, and stir to combine. Cook for another 30 minutes on high.
- Serve the BBQ pulled pork warm on hamburger buns, optionally topped with coleslaw.
