Beef and Noodle Casserole
A comforting and hearty casserole featuring ground beef, egg noodles, and a creamy tomato sauce, baked to golden perfection.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 8 oz egg noodles
- 1 medium onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 14½ oz canned diced tomatoes
- 8 oz tomato sauce
- 4 oz cream cheese
- ½ cup sour cream
- 1 cup cheddar cheese
- ½ cup beef broth
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp dried Italian seasoning
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
Steps
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook egg noodles according to package directions, then drain and set aside.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart, until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Cook until the onion is softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes.
- Reduce heat to low, then stir in cream cheese and sour cream until melted and smooth. Remove from heat.
- Combine the cooked noodles with the beef and sauce mixture in the skillet. Pour into a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the casserole.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the casserole is heated through.
