Beef Gyros
Enjoy classic Greek flavors with tender, seasoned beef strips served in warm pita bread with fresh vegetables and creamy tzatziki sauce.
Ingredients
- 1½ lb flank steak
- 4 pita bread
- 1 cucumber
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 2 clove garlic
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp fresh dill
- ½ red onion
- 2 tomato
- 2 cup romaine lettuce
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp paprika
- ½ tsp cumin
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
Steps
- Thinly slice the flank steak against the grain into strips. In a bowl, toss the beef with 1 tablespoon olive oil, oregano, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper.
- Grate half the cucumber and finely mince 1 clove of garlic. In a small bowl, combine Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, lemon juice, and fresh dill to make the tzatziki sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned beef strips and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat.
- Thinly slice the remaining cucumber, red onion, and tomatoes. Shred the romaine lettuce.
- Warm the pita bread according to package instructions. Spread a generous amount of tzatziki sauce on each pita.
- Fill each pita with cooked beef, sliced cucumber, red onion, tomato, and romaine lettuce. Serve immediately.
