Black Bean Burgers
Satisfying and flavorful vegetarian burgers made from hearty black beans, perfect for a casual meal.
Ingredients
- 30 oz black beans
- ½ red onion
- 2 clove garlic
- ½ bell pepper
- ¾ cup bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp chili powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 burger buns
- 4 leaf lettuce (optional)
- ½ tomato (optional)
- ½ avocado (optional)
Steps
- Drain and rinse black beans. Mash them in a large bowl, leaving some whole for texture.
- Finely dice the red onion, garlic, and bell pepper.
- In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the diced vegetables until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the sautéed vegetables, bread crumbs, egg, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper to the mashed black beans. Mix well to combine.
- Form the mixture into 4 patties.
- Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil in the skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side, until browned and heated through.
- Serve the black bean burgers on buns with desired toppings like lettuce, tomato, and avocado.
