Blackened Salmon
Experience the bold, spicy flavors of the South with this perfectly seared blackened salmon, crispy on the outside and flaky within.
Ingredients
- 1½ lb salmon fillets
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper
- ½ tsp dried thyme
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Steps
- Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels.
- In a small bowl, combine paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, thyme, oregano, salt, and black pepper.
- Generously rub the spice mixture all over the salmon fillets.
- Heat olive oil in a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until just smoking.
- Carefully place salmon, skin-side up, in the hot skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes until a dark crust forms.
- Flip the salmon and cook for another 3-5 minutes, or until cooked through and flaky.
- Remove from skillet and serve immediately.
