Chick-Fil-A Style Chicken Sandwich
Enjoy a homemade version of the iconic fried chicken sandwich, featuring a pickle-brined chicken breast, perfectly seasoned and served on a toasted bun.
Ingredients
- 1½ lb boneless, skinless chicken breast
- 1 cup pickle juice
- 2 egg
- ½ cup milk
- 2 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 tbsp powdered sugar
- 2 tsp paprika
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp celery salt
- 2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- 4 cup vegetable oil
- 4 sesame seed burger buns
- ½ cup pickle slices (optional)
- 1 tsp hot sauce (optional)
Steps
- Pound chicken breasts to about 1/2 inch thickness, then cut each into two even pieces.
- Marinate chicken in pickle juice (and hot sauce, if desired) for 30-60 minutes.
- In one bowl, whisk egg and milk. In another, combine flour, powdered sugar, paprika, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, celery salt, and cayenne pepper (if using).
- Dip each chicken piece into the egg mixture, then coat thoroughly in the flour mixture.
- Heat about 1/2 inch of oil in a large skillet to 345-350°F (175-177°C).
- Fry chicken cutlets for 2 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Drain chicken on paper towels. Lightly toast the burger buns.
- Serve chicken on toasted buns with pickle slices.
