Ingredients

  • 1½ lb ground beef
  • 1 medium yellow onion
  • 3 clove garlic
  • 2 cup beef broth
  • 6 oz tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp allspice
  • ¼ tsp cloves
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 8 oz spaghetti
  • 2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Steps

  1. Brown the ground beef in a large pot over medium-high heat, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain off any excess fat.
  2. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot with the beef. Cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in tomato paste, chili powder, cocoa powder, cinnamon, allspice, cloves, cumin, oregano, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in beef broth, apple cider vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for at least 1 hour, or up to 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  5. While the chili simmers, cook the spaghetti according to package directions until al dente. Drain well.
  6. To serve 3-Way, place a portion of cooked spaghetti on a plate, ladle chili over the spaghetti, and top generously with shredded cheddar cheese.
