Ingredients

  • 1½ lb ground lamb
  • ½ cup red onion
  • 2 clove garlic
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley
  • ½ cup feta cheese (optional)
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 lettuce leaves (optional)
  • 4 tomato slices (optional)
  • ½ cup tzatziki sauce (optional)

Steps

  1. Finely dice the red onion and mince the garlic. Chop the fresh parsley.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground lamb, diced red onion, minced garlic, chopped parsley, crumbled feta (if using), egg, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, oregano, and cumin. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  3. Form the lamb mixture into four equal patties, about 1-inch thick.
  4. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat, or preheat a grill to medium-high. Cook patties for 4-6 minutes per side, or until desired doneness and an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
  5. Lightly toast the burger buns during the last few minutes of cooking.
  6. Assemble burgers on toasted buns with lettuce, tomato, and tzatziki sauce (if using).
