Classic Shrimp Boil
A festive and flavorful seafood boil featuring succulent shrimp, tender potatoes, sweet corn, and spicy sausage, all seasoned with a zesty blend.
Ingredients
- 1½ lb large shrimp, shell-on, deveined
- 12 oz smoked sausage (Andouille or Kielbasa), sliced
- 1½ lb baby red potatoes
- 4 ears of corn, husked and halved
- ¼ cup Old Bay seasoning
- 1 lemon, halved
- 4 clove garlic, minced
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted (optional)
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
- 1 tsp hot sauce (optional)
- 12 cup water
- 1 tbsp salt
Steps
- In a large stockpot, combine water, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and garlic. Bring to a rolling boil.
- Add potatoes to the boiling water and cook for 10-12 minutes, or until just tender.
- Add the smoked sausage and corn to the pot and continue to cook for another 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the shrimp and cook for 2-4 minutes, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque. Do not overcook.
- Carefully drain the entire contents of the pot. Discard the lemon halves.
- Pour the shrimp boil onto a large serving platter or directly onto a newspaper-covered table. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
- Serve immediately with melted butter and hot sauce on the side for dipping.
