Classic Tater Tot Casserole
A comforting and hearty casserole featuring seasoned ground beef, creamy soup, cheese, and a crispy tater tot topping.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- ½ yellow onion
- 10½ oz cream of mushroom soup
- ½ cup milk
- 1½ cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 16 oz frozen tater tots
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp garlic powder
Steps
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x9 inch baking dish.
- Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion to the skillet with the beef and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Remove from heat and stir in the cream of mushroom soup and milk until well combined.
- Spread the beef mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the beef mixture.
- Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer over the cheese. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
- Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheese over the hot tater tots and return to the oven for 5 minutes, or until melted and bubbly.
- Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
