Ingredients

  • 1 lb lump crab meat
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • ½ tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • ¼ red bell pepper (optional)
  • ¼ green bell pepper (optional)
  • 2 tbsp bread crumbs (optional)

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish or four individual ramekins.
  2. In a large bowl, gently pick through the crab meat to remove any shell fragments, being careful not to break up the lumps.
  3. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, chopped parsley, lemon juice, and egg.
  4. Gently fold the mayonnaise mixture into the crab meat until just combined. If using, finely dice the bell peppers and fold them in as well.
  5. Spoon the crab imperial mixture into the prepared baking dish or ramekins. Dot the top with small pieces of butter.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly. If desired, sprinkle with bread crumbs during the last 5 minutes of baking.
  7. Let rest for a few minutes before serving. Serve hot.
