Green Bean Casserole with Ham
A comforting classic, this green bean casserole is elevated with savory ham and a creamy mushroom sauce, topped with crispy fried onions.
Ingredients
- ¾ lb cooked ham, diced
- 1½ lb green beans, fresh or frozen
- 10½ oz cream of mushroom soup
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 2.8 oz fried onions
Steps
- Preheat oven to 350 0F (175 0C).
- If using fresh green beans, trim and blanch them in boiling water for 5 minutes; drain well. If using frozen, thaw and drain.
- In a large bowl, combine the green beans, diced ham, cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Pour the mixture into a 2-quart baking dish. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until bubbly.
- Remove the casserole from the oven, sprinkle the fried onions evenly over the top.
- Return to the oven and bake for another 5-10 minutes, or until the fried onions are golden brown.
