Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ¾ head green cabbage
  • 1 medium yellow onion
  • 3 clove garlic
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley (optional)

Steps

  1. Chop the cabbage into bite-sized pieces, dice the onion, and mince the garlic.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add diced onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in minced garlic, tomato paste, paprika, and red pepper flakes (if using), cooking for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add chopped cabbage, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir to combine.
  5. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender, stirring occasionally.
  6. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired, and serve hot.
