Ham Steak with Pineapple
A classic combination of savory ham steak glazed with sweet pineapple, creating a quick and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 1½ lb ham steak
- 20 oz canned pineapple rings
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp dijon mustard
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley (optional)
Steps
- Drain pineapple rings, reserving 1/4 cup of the juice.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the reserved pineapple juice, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, and black pepper to create the glaze.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ham steak and sear for 3-4 minutes per side until lightly browned.
- Reduce heat to medium. Arrange pineapple rings around the ham steak in the skillet. Pour the glaze over the ham and pineapple.
- Simmer for 5-7 minutes, spooning the glaze over the ham and pineapple occasionally, until the glaze has thickened and the ham is heated through.
- Remove from heat, slice the ham steak, and serve with the glazed pineapple. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
