Hamburger Helper Style Beef Pasta
A comforting and easy one-pot meal featuring seasoned ground beef and pasta in a creamy, cheesy sauce, reminiscent of a classic boxed dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- ½ yellow onion
- 2 clove garlic
- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 3 cup beef broth
- ½ cup milk
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp paprika
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil (optional)
Steps
- In a large skillet or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain any excess grease and set the beef aside.
- Add a tablespoon of oil if needed, then sauté the diced onion in the same skillet until softened, about 3-5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Stir in the tomato paste, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika, cooking for 1 minute.
- Return the cooked ground beef to the skillet. Add the elbow macaroni, beef broth, and milk. Stir well to combine.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 10-12 minutes, or until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid has been absorbed, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy. Serve hot.
