Italian Sub Sandwiches
A classic Italian-American sub packed with an assortment of cured meats, provolone cheese, and crisp vegetables, all drizzled with a zesty vinaigrette.
Ingredients
- 4 crusty sub rolls
- 8 slice provolone cheese
- 8 slice genoa salami
- 8 slice capicola
- 8 slice pepperoni
- 8 slice ham
- 2 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 tomato
- ½ red onion
- ½ cup banana peppers (optional)
- 4 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
Steps
- Slice sub rolls lengthwise, but not all the way through, to create a pocket.
- Layer 2 slices of provolone cheese into each roll.
- Arrange 2 slices each of salami, capicola, pepperoni, and ham on top of the cheese.
- Top the meats with shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, and thinly sliced red onion. Add banana peppers if desired.
- In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, red wine vinegar, oregano, salt, and pepper to make the vinaigrette.
- Drizzle the vinaigrette generously over the fillings in each sub.
- Close the subs and serve immediately.
