Lobster Mac and Cheese
Indulge in a luxurious twist on a classic comfort food with tender lobster meat baked into creamy, cheesy macaroni.
Ingredients
- 8 oz macaroni pasta
- 8 oz lobster meat
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 3 cup milk
- 8 oz sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 4 oz Gruyere cheese, shredded
- ¼ cup Parmesan cheese, grated (optional)
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ½ cup panko breadcrumbs (optional)
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Steps
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook macaroni according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large saucepan or Dutch oven, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
- Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove from heat. Stir in cheddar, Gruyere, Dijon mustard, nutmeg, salt, and pepper until cheeses are melted and sauce is smooth.
- Gently fold in the cooked macaroni and lobster meat. Transfer the mixture to a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- If desired, sprinkle with panko breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until bubbly and the topping is golden brown.
- Let stand for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
